Who we are

Qualified Teacher and Centre Manager, Rachael Holmes and her team of qualified staff, are delighted to offer a professional and bespoke tuition service for children between the ages of 5 and 16. Our students attend our friendly and welcoming study centres for 1-2 hours each week and gain confidence and skills in maths and English.

At the centre, your child will be seated with students of a similar age and will follow their own programme of work under the supervision of a qualified tutor.

We will support your child's learning at every stage of their learning journey. Our professional support will help your child with their schoolwork, build confidence and develop independent learning skills. Our study material is matched to the National Curriculum so you can be assured that the work we do with our students, complements the work they do in school. So whatever your child's ability and whatever tuition they need, we can help. At York Tuition Centres we believe that confidence is crucial for learning and that every child has the potential to achieve.

How we work

Rachael will complete an assessment and arrange a free trial at one of the learning centres. She will determine gaps in your child's knowledge and a starting point for study. Rachael will answer any questions you may have. Going forward, We will prepare a dedicated programme of study and arrange a start date for your child.

Each week at the centre, your child will complete a short piece of work, overseen by Rachael and her assistant tutors. A detailed programme of homework may be given and should be completed before the next class. Some families prefer not to take homework and that is absolutely fine, just mention it at the enrolment meeting. Our prices are very competitive considering the quality of expert tuition that your child will receive. Single subject study fees are £70 per month, dual subject study fees are £109. Sibling discounts are available too.

Your next step

If you think a York Tuition Centre might be right for your child, your first step is to contact Rachael and request a free trial session. After that, you can arrange for her to conduct an assessment at your home or in centre at a time convenient to you. The assessment will take 1-2 hours and is designed to show your child's learning needs so that a bespoke study programme can be arranged.

There is no salesmanship at the assessment and you will not be required to enrol on the spot. If you need thinking time and a chance to discuss things privately as a family, that is perfectly fine.
